What is it?

Candida (albicans) is a yeast which seems to live in us all. Certain conditions, usually a combination of them, allow it to overgrow.

What are the possible causes? The long term effects of antibiotics, a compromised immune system, the aftermath of steroids/hormones such as in medication or residues in foods, chronic stress and a diet high in refined carbohydrates and sugar-rich foods.

What are the potential problems caused by candida overgrowth? IBS (irritable bowel syndrome), bloating, heartburn, unexplained fatigue, anxiety, depression, foggy brain, allergies, recurrent thrush to name but a few. Please note however that candida is not the only cause of these symptoms.

What is the suggested solution? To combat candida effectively a three pronged attack seems to be the best solution. Starve it, attack it and support the body’s systems.
